چکیده

Figure S1. Experimental proton T1 relaxation enhancements R1, measured with a 5 mM solution of ubiquitin in the presence of 4 mM Gd(DTPA-BMA), plotted versus the R1 values predicted by a relaxation model based on translational diffusion. The experimental R1 data are the same as in Figure 2a of the main text. The predicted R1 values were calculated using equation 48 of Ayant et al. (ref. 1), with a modified υ parameter (compare eq 49 of ref. 1):

Identification of protein surfaces by NMR measurements with a pramagnetic Gd(III) chelate.

Gd-diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid-bismethylamide, Gd(DTPA-BMA), is shown to be a reagent suitable for the identification of protein surfaces. Compared to the conventionally used spin-label TEMPOL, Gd(DTPA-BMA) is a stronger relaxation agent, requiring lesser concentrations to achieve the same paramagnetic relaxation enhancement of solvent-exposed protein protons. It is also less hydrophobi...

Supramolecular assembly of an amphiphilic Gd(III) chelate: tuning the reorientational correlation time and the water exchange rate.

We report the synthesis and characterization of the novel ligand H(5)EPTPA-C(16) ((hydroxymethylhexadecanoyl ester)ethylenepropylenetriaminepentaacetic acid). This ligand was designed to chelate the Gd(III) ion in a kinetically and thermodynamically stable way while ensuring an increased water exchange rate (kappa(ex)) on the Gd(III) complex owing to steric compression around the water-binding ...

The use of a ditopic Gd(III) paramagnetic probe for investigating α-bungarotoxin surface accessibility.

Protein surface accessibility is a critical parameter which drives all intermolecular interaction processes. In this respect a big deal of information has been derived by analyzing paramagnetic perturbation profiles obtained from NMR protein spectra, particularly in the case that the effects due to different soluble paramagnets can be compared. Here Gd(2)L7, a neutral ditopic paramagnetic NMR p...

RIDME distance measurements using Gd(iii) tags with a narrow central transition.

Methods based on pulse electron paramagnetic resonance allow measurement of the electron-electron dipolar coupling between two spin labels. Here we compare the most popular technique, Double Electron-Electron Resonance (DEER or PELDOR), with the dead-time free 5-pulse Relaxation-Induced Dipolar Modulation Enhancement (RIDME) method for Gd(iii)-Gd(iii) distance measurements at W-band (94.9 GHz, ...

Tunable paramagnetic relaxation enhancements by [Gd(DPA)(3)] (3-) for protein structure analysis.

Paramagnetic relaxation enhancements (PRE) present a powerful source of structural information in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) studies of proteins and protein-ligand complexes. In contrast to conventional PRE reagents that are covalently attached to the protein, the complex between gadolinium and three dipicolinic acid (DPA) molecules, [Gd(DPA)(3)](3-), can bind to proteins in a non-covalen...
